BENJAMIN YORITA
July 24, 1921 – January 8, 2023
Born in Seattle on July 24, 1921, Ben passed away peacefully at the age of 101 with his family at his side on January 8, 2023. Ben lived a long and full life. He was removed and incarcerated at Minidoka, Idaho, during WWII, and married Amy Mayeda Yorita (deceased) in 1944. Ben served in the Counterintelligence Corps, U.S. Army. He taught history for many years in various Seattle Public Schools, ending his career at Seattle Central College.
Ben leaves behind a brother, George Yorita, a daughter, Sara (Jeff) Law, grandsons Ben (Sula) Diaz, CC Law, Stuart Law, and great-granchildren, Kairo Diaz and Waverly Reed Law, as well as many nieces, nephews, and their families.
