NOBUO YUTANI (NOBI)
February 27, 1931 - January 31, 2022

Nobi Yutani passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022, at the age of 90 years old in Seattle, Washington. Nobi was born on February 27, 1931, to Nobuichi and Kazue Yutani. He was the fourth of five children. He had two older brothers, Hiroshi (deceased) and Eiji (Kahori), an older sister, Massie (Mas deceased), and a younger brother, Kaz (Joanne).

After being incarcerated at Minidoka during WWII, Nobi attended Garfield High School in Seattle and the University of Washington, where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Upon completing college, he took a job with General Electric at the Hanford Plant and relocated to Richland, Washington. However, Nobi was drafted into the Army after a college deferment and was assigned to Dugway, Utah. Nobi then worked at The Boeing Company for 36+ years and retired in 1993.

While at the UW, Nobi met and married his wife, Alice Kimiye Fukeda, and they were together for over 35 years. Nobi and Alice had five children: Linda, Cindy, Teresa, Pam, and Wayne.

Nobi was preceded in death by his wife Alice in 1990 and his companion Grace Boyd in 2017. Nobi is survived by Linda Carrig, Mike Sera (Mika Kawakami), Scott and Emi Sera, Darcy Carrig (Denita Kitts), Devin Carrig; Cindy Yutani (James Siler); Teresa Mori (Paul), Paula, Tricia; Pam Sasaki (Steve), Alec, Alicia, Stefanie; Wayne Yutani (Tammy Ross), Ross, Austin, Keshia, Lucy Trevino as well as Toshi Fukeda and many nieces and nephews and their families.

A memorial service was held on February 27th, 2022, the day of Nobi's birthday. The family requests that, in lieu of cards or flowers, please consider a donation in Nobi's name to Densho, Seattle Betsuin Buddhist Temple, or the American Cancer Society.
