There are so many things in life that we review regularly, your insurance should be one of them! As a licensed insurance agent, my goal is for you to “Know your Plan AND Know your Options”

Have you had any changes to your prescription medications? Do you have any planned procedures/surgeries for 2022? Do you need dental work done or need new glasses or hearing aids? These are all reasons to do a through review of your coverage changes for next year.

From now until December 7th, Medicare members have the opportunity to make changes to their Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plans for the upcoming 2022 year. An annual plan review is important to understand how your costs for medical services and prescription drugs may change. Some general things to remember about your Medicare drug plan coverage:

  • Tier levels may change for your prescription medications, your prescription may no longer be covered, and a substitute prescription will take its place.
  • If you are taking any medications that are Tier 2 or higher you may be responsible for a pharmacy deductible – the maximum deductible for this will be increasing in 2022
  • Preferred vs Standard vs Mail Order Pharmacies – it is important to know who these are for you plan as there may be varying costs associated with each
  • Changing copays and Maximum out of Pocket amounts for Medicare Advantage Plans for 2022 – make sure you know what to expect for potential out of pocket costs next year
  • Additional benefits may be available such as Acupuncture, Massage, and Chiropractic and Naturopathy – do you know what your plan could have for 2022?

Your current Medicare Advantage and Prescription Drug Plan carriers sent out their Annual Notice of Change booklets in September. There you can review any changes that will be coming for 2022, including any changes with your drug coverages. Even if you are happy with what you have, a thorough review is always a good idea to ensure your current needs will be met next year.
