122nd Thank You Gift to the NVC

Colonel Stan Seo, a life member of the Nisei Veterans Committee (NVC) and the Commanding Officer of the 122nd Public Affairs Operations Center (122nd), presented a commemorative plaque to the NVC on behalf of the soldiers of the 122nd in appreciation of our support.  One of the notable items in the plaque is the U.S. Flag, which was flown in Kabul, Afghanistan, where COL Seo and some of the 122nd were posted at Forward Operating base HKIA.

NVC Foundation Scholarship Program: Application Deadline February 1

The NVC Foundation Scholarship Program is now open to receive applications! All scholarships are open to both high school seniors and college students. All applications, letters of recommendation and transcripts must be received on or before February 1, 2021. 

New Scholarship Opportunity: Colonel Jimmie Kanaya Scholarship

The Scholarship Committee is proud to announce the first annual Colonel Jimmie Kanaya Scholarship Award for $3,000. This scholarship will be granted to a high school senior pursuing higher education. All applications and transcripts must be received by mail and be postmarked on or before March 1, 2021.

Fences Placed at NVC Memorial Hall and NVC Foundation Memorial Wall

Things will look different on your next visit to the NVC Memorial Hall. The Nisei Veterans Committee and the NVC Foundation agreed on the need to address increased vandalism on our properties related to a sharp rise in homelessness and drug use in the area, and a decision was made to install protective fencing.

Bone Marrow Donor Needed – Be the Match!

Paul Goodman is battling Leukemia for the second time and is in desperate need of a Bone Marrow Match. For Paul, who is biracial, the ideal match would be a donor who is 50 percent Japanese and 50 percent Caucasian and between the ages of 18 and 44 (due to immune systems).
