Farewell Letter from Consul General Yamada

August 2020, Volume 70, Issue 7

[Note: Consul General Yoichiro Yamada left Seattle on August 6 after serving here for three years. A virtual Community Farewell gathering was organized and attended by many via Zoom on July 29.]

´╗┐Dale, Lori, Toshi-san, Kosei-san,

I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the warm farewell event you so kindly staged for me on Wednesday. I was overwhelmed! It was such an honor to be greeted by so many organizations and individuals with one video after another filled with fond memories and familiar faces from the past three years.

It is difficult to imagine how you coordinated among so many organizations and managed to produce a one-hour show! It was like a KING 5 program!

I am sorry that it took some time to write this email; my wife and I were absorbed in packing our belongings (I wonder if you can guess how much stuff “we” bring back home, such as Hina Dolls, streaming Carps, Venus flytraps...) all of which were shipped out successfully yesterday (!)

I wish I could write individually to all the organizations and individuals who participated in Wednesday’s event, but I probably won’t be able to. Therefore, I would like to ask you to kindly forward my sincere gratitude to all of them somehow.

Thank you again. I wish you all strong health to weather the pandemic.

Sincerely,

Giro

Yoichiro Yamada
Consul General of Japan
