The US Army 7th Infantry Division (7ID) and the Japan Ground Self Defense Force (JGSDF) contingent will be joining us for an annual Luncheon on Sunday, September 8, starting at 10:30 AM in the NVC Memorial Hall.
Join us as we welcome members of the 7ID, along with the JGSDF training contingent from Yakima as they participate in a good-will and cultural visit to the NVC Memorial Hall for a joint luncheon. The NVC and the Japan America Society of Washington will host about 250 visitors including soldiers, NVC members, Japan U.S. Military Program known as JUMP (collaborative effort between the Sasakawa Peace Foundation USA, the Embassy of Japan in the United States and the National Association of Japan-America Societies.), Seattle community and the Consul-General of Japan.
This will also be an opportunity for the US Army Community and Japanese soldiers to learn about the NVC and the history of the Nisei Veterans. The 7ID be led by Major General Xavier T. Brunson, who just took over command of the Division. Most Japanese soldiers are new to Seattle and are on an annual training exercise at the Yakima Training Center. Both have expressed their eagerness to learn about the NVC, the Nisei Veterans’ exploits, and the community.
Veteran NVC members are encouraged to attend and share your experiences with young active duty members of the military. Let’s show them the NVC hospitality!
