On 6 February 2019, NVC Life Member and Past Commander Allen Nakamoto and NVC Foundation Life Member Mari Wilson greeted Major General Hiroaki Sueyoshi and Colonel Hitoshi Goto, two senior ranking officers from the Japanese Ground Self Defense Forces and their team to NVC Hall.  They were escorted by Warrant Officer Ishioka, a longtime friend of the NVC.

MG Sueyoshi is the Director General for the Operations Support & Training Department, and COL Goto is the Chief of the Training & Exercise Section. MG Sueyoshi is also a graduate of the U.S. Army War College at Carlisle Barracks, PA.

As a memento for their visit each guest was given an NVC coin and a folder of information about the NVC and NVC Foundation.  MG Sueyoshi also received the Going for Honor, Going for Broke DVD.

In turn, MG Sueyoshi presented the NVC with the Operations Support & Training Department decorative bowl, and each of the volunteers received his coin. I donated my coin to the NVC.

I cannot thank enough the two volunteers who were instrumental during this visit.

NVC Foundation Life Member Mari Wilson and NVC Life Member and Past Commander Allen Nakamoto took the time to meet MG Sueyoshi’s and COL Goto and to provide them a tour of the NVC Memorial Hall!

These two volunteers, one from each organization, worked together to showcase the Vets Hall, but more importantly, to tell the stories of the Nisei Veterans, their families who were incarcerated during WWII, and how following generations were able to succeed because of the Nisei!
