October 4 -- VA Puget Sound Health Care System hosts a National Disability Awareness Conference and Resource Fair on Thursday, October 4th, 2018 from 9 AM to 3 PM in the Veterans Lobby Area at 1660 S. Columbian Way, Seattle. Reflecting a commitment to a robust and competitive American labor force, the 2018 National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) theme is “America’s Workforce: Empowering All.” Observed each October, NDEAM celebrates the contributions of workers with disabilities and educates about the value of a workforce inclusive of their skills and talents. October 6 -- Bellevue College hosts Japan Week at BC with a public event on Saturday, October 6, from 10 am to 5 pm at 3000 Landerholm Circle, Bellevue. Free Admission, Free Parking, and Free Wi-Fi all day! The final Saturday of Japan Week is a Japanese Festival or Matsuri, dedicated to celebrating Japan’s rich culture and history. Join us for a day of games, music, workshops, and activities: Play with traditional Japanese toys in the “kids” corner, shop at our Flea Market full of authentic Japanese gifts, learn the Code of Samurai Bushido”, show off your karaoke talents, and participate in the cosplay contest. October 10 -- JCCCW hosts a screening of Never Give Up! Minoru Yasui and the Fight for Justice on Wednesday, October 10, at 11:00 AM at JCCCW, 1414 South Weller Street, Seattle. The director, Min Yasui's youngest daughter Holly, will be on hand for a post-film discussion. The screening is free; free will donations gratefully accepted. The film and/or the educational packet can be ordered after the screening. The screening will repeat on Thursday, September 11 at 6:00 pm at Blaine Memorial United Methodist Church, 3001 24th Avenue South, Seattle. October 27 -- ACRS holds its 45th Anniversary Benefit Gala on Saturday, October 27, 5:30 PM - 9:30 PM at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue, 900 Bellevue Way NE 98004. ACRS is celebrating 45 years of community, stories and progress in 2018. "Over the last four and a half decades, you have helped create a home – one where Asian Americans, Pacific Islanders and others – immigrant, refugee or American born – can find help from nearly 270 dedicated and passionate staff who speak over 45 languages and dialects.
