September 7 -- Seattle Chapter JACL holds their 96th Annual Banquet with the theme of Social Justice & Food on Friday, September 7, 6:00 pm - 10:00 pm at Bell Harbor International Conference Center, 2211 Alaskan Way, Seattle. This year our event will look at the role of food in creating an equitable future for Asian Pacific Islanders and beyond. Food is an important part of our identity as Japanese Americans and as Seattleites of any background. We will honor nonprofits that are using food to heal and nourish vulnerable people and tell stories of the legendary restaurants that have been instrumental to feeding - and providing inspiration - for Nikkei people and other communities of color. September 22 -- Mukai Farm & Garden presents their first Vashon Japan Festival 2018 on Saturday, September 22, from 10 am to 4 pm at Mukai Farm & Garden, 18017 107th Avenue SW, Vashon. Enjoy a free, traditional Japanese-style street festival featuring a children's village with games and art, Taiko drummers, Japanese style odori dancers, authentic food and drink in the Sake Garden, local artisan, educational speakers and more! September 27 -- The International Examiner invite you to the 2018 Community Voice Awards dinner on Thursday, September 27, 2018 from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Joyale Seafood Restaurant, 900 South Jackson Street in the International District. Each year, as the only nonprofit pan-Asian Pacific American newspaper in the United States, we publicly honor exceptional leaders who inspire and provide incredible service to our communities. Honorees this year: Ruby de Luna, Mike Fong, Key Bank, Michelle Kumata, I-Miun Liu, Phnom Penh, Quynh Pham, Tanya Woo/Louisa Hotel Redevelopment Project.  Early Bird Tickets $80 through August 31, then $100 from September 1. October 4 -- VA Puget Sound Health Care System hosts a National Disability Awareness Conference and Resource Fair on Thursday, October 4th, 2018 from 9 AM to 3 PM in the Veterans Lobby Area at 1660 S. Columbian Way, Seattle. Reflecting a commitment to a robust and competitive American labor force, the 2018 National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM) theme is “America’s Workforce: Empowering All.” Observed each October, NDEAM celebrates the contributions of workers with disabilities and educates about the value of a workforce inclusive of their skills and talents. October 6 -- Bellevue College hosts Japan Week at BC with a public event on Saturday, October 6, from 10 am to 5 pm at 3000 Landerholm Circle, Bellevue. Free Admission, Free Parking, and Free Wi-Fi all day! The final Saturday of Japan Week is a Japanese festival “Matsuri,” dedicated to celebrating Japan’s rich culture and history. Join us for a day of games, music, workshops, and activities: Play with traditional Japanese toys in the “kids” corner, shop at our Flea Market full of authentic Japanese gifts, learn the Code of Samurai “Bushido,” show off your karaoke talents, and participate in the cosplay contest. October 27 -- ACRS holds it 45th Anniversary Benefit Gala on Saturday, October 27, 5:30 PM -9:30 PM at the Hyatt Regency Bellevue, 900 Bellevue Way NE 98004. ACRS is celebrating 45 years of community, stories and progress in 2018. November 3 -- Densho holds its second annual Densho Dinner “Keeping Our History Alive Through Art and Story” on Saturday, November 3 from 5:00 pm - 8:30 pm at Meydenbauer Convention Center, 11100 NE 6th Street, Bellevue.
