Craig Omoto will again be coordinating the placing of flags at the graves of our fallen Nikkei Veterans buried at Evergreen-Washelli on the morning of Saturday, May 26, in honor of the Memorial Day weekend.
Craig has mapped out and identified each grave on aerial photographs, ensuring that no veterans’ grave marker is overlooked and that all the veterans are honored with a flag. The aerial photos also greatly reduce the time necessary to place the flags.
Evergreen Washelli Memorial Park straddles both sides of Aurora Ave N (Highway 99) between N 110th Street and N 125th Street. Volunteers should gather at 9:00 AM on the road off of Meridian Ave N, near the corner of N 113th Street (south of Northwest Hospital). We usually finish in an hour or so.
