2017 NVC Foundation Luau a Success!

On October 21, 2017, the NVC Foundation held its Fourth Aloha Fundraiser and Banquet.  The evening’s program began with words of welcome and thanks to volunteers from Warren Higa, NVC Foundation President. The evening then was turned over to Mistress of Ceremonies, Lori Matsukawa, King 5 TV news anchor and community leader.


NVC Foundation Scholarship Program

Applications are now available for the NVC Foundation Scholarship Program which awards up to four scholarships.  One award goes to the NVC/WAC Scholarship. This honors the Nisei Veterans Committee and the former Women’s Auxiliary Committee.  And up to three Shiro Kashino Memorial Scholarships are awarded in honor of Shiro Kashino, a highly decorated NVC Lifetime member and community leader.

Lunch with Seattle Consul General Yamada

Shortly after Japanese Consul General Yoichiro Yamada arrived in Seattle, he invited the NVC and NVC Foundation members to his residence for a luncheon.   Approximately 65 members, plus a few community leaders, attended the luncheon. 

David Yamashita and Kathleen Gilligan honored by Forefront Suicide Prevention

Forefront Suicide Prevention honored two dedicated community organizers, David Yamashita and Kathleen Gilligan, with the Tina Orwall Community Advocate Award at its fifth annual suicide awareness dinner fundraiser, Restoring Hope.  David Yamashita also volunteers extensively for the NVC Foundation.

Dependency and Indemnity Compensation: VA Death Benefits

Dependency and Indemnity Compensation (DIC) is a monthly benefit paid to eligible survivors of certain deceased veterans.  The following is a summary of this important benefit:  Eligible Survivors, Concurrent Receipt of DIC and Survivors Benefit Plan (SBP), Monthly Rates, Additional Allowances, and the Application Process.
