NVC Annual Golf Tournament Highlights

September 2015, Volume 65, Issue 8

Held August 17th 2015 at Foster Golf Links

A great sunny morning awaited this year’s NVC golfers at the Foster Golf Links in Tukwila.  The golfing was great with many low net scores throughout the flights, and as always, everyone had a great time and were treated afterwards to Steve ‘da grill master” Louie’s rib steaks at the NVC Memorial Hall.

On a side note, due to some new tournament policies at Jefferson Park that would have greatly increased the entry fee, we decided to move to a different venue that turned out to be great and very accommodating.  Thank you Foster Golf Links!

The Men's First Flight was won by Al Honda who shot a spectacular round of net 60 that was one shot better than Martin Hikida’s great round of 61.  Great shooting! Next were Tim Otani at 65 and Jeff Nomi at 66.

The Men's Second Flight winner was Joe Yoshihara who beat out Rick Takeuchi on a tiebreaker when both players shot awesome 61’s!  Second place went to Jeff Hattori, who shot a terrific 62 that edged out Gary Takeuchi’s great round of 63.

The Women's Flight was won by Trisha Morton’s awesome round of net 63!  A repeat for Trisha!  Way to go!  Second place was a tie between Sharell Sakamoto and Lilly Tokita who shot fine rounds of 68!

This year’s NVC Perpetual Trophy went to “high flying” Yuzo Tokita who shot a great round of 64!  Congratulations Yuzo!!

Closest to the Pin awards for hole #9 went to Steve Ikeda (9’6”/1st Flt), Taylor Terao (10’7”/2nd Flt) and Liz Olschefski (14’5”).

Closest to the Pin for hole #16 went to Scott Sakagami (14’5”/1st Flt), Dicky Mar (11’9”/ 2nd Flt) and Beth Kawahara (15’6”)

Congratulations to all of the winners and looking forward to seeing all next year!!!!

And finally a special THANK YOU to the following volunteers for their greatly appreciated efforts in making this a fun and enjoyable event for all: Steve “da grill master” Louie, MJ Mitoma, Steve Tamura, TC Chinn, Taylor Terao, Bryan Takeuchi, Gary Takeuchi and Rick Takeuchi. We couldn't have done it without you!
