The launching of the Graphic Novel Fighting for America: Nisei Soldiers, written by Lawrence Matsuda and illustrated by Matt Sasaki, at NVC Hall was a resounding success! A record number of book lovers filled the hall with attendance estimated at 200.
A great sunny morning awaited this year’s NVC golfers at the Foster Golf Links in Tukwila. The golfing was great with many low net scores throughout the flights.
The NVC had a very special visitor and speaker on Labor Day, 7 September 2015. Retired General Barry McCaffrey, his wife Jill Ann, and three other family members came to our NVC Hall to speak about "Challenges to US National Security"...

U.S. Navy League Cadets from Training Ship Henry M. Jackson toured the NVC Memorial Hall / Museum. The cadets were amazed at the heroic contributions that members of the 442nd RCT and Military Intelligence Service made in Europe as well as the Pacific Theatre.
Reprinted from the Japanese American Veterans Association (JAVA). Ben Kuroki, legendary aerial gunner during World War II and JAVA Life Member, passed away. Kuroki was the first Nisei to enlist in the US Armed Forces during the war and was the only Nisei to serve as aerial gunner in the Asia Pacific Theater of the five Nisei aerial gunners during WW II.
Terry Takeuchi was back at the helm of the Nisei Lunch Program after a well-deserved hiatus. The menu for the day consisted of a hearty Pork/Tofu rice bowl, green salad and Vanilla Ice Cream with strawberries.
Bill Kossen writes about memories with the Nisei Veterans Committee when growing up. His family's insurance company, Kossen Insurance, sponsored a basketball team in the old NVC Community Basketball League.
There is an increasing interest from schools and community groups to come and visit our NVC Memorial Hall. On August 11th, we hosted the Foundation House Retirement Home. The NVCF President Bruce Inaba was the tour guide.
Fighting for America: Nisei Soldiers - - Attention all Teachers! The NVC Foundation and The WING will present a one-day workshop and curriculum training for teachers at the middle school and high school level.
