The NVC/NVC Foundation had the pleasure of hosting ABC Los Angeles newscaster David Ono for a very busy weekend on March 14th and 15th. David began by being the keynote speaker for the 69th Installation Luncheon. (More will be reported on this in the Installation article.) He then enjoyed dinner at friend Yuji Okumoto’s restaurant, Kona Kitchen. He was joined by a group of 30 fans, and all were thrilled to have this extra time to get to know him.
The weekend culminated with the showing of his Emmy Award winning documentary The Legacy of Heart Mountain. Despite a torrential rainstorm, an estimated 250-300 people attended. The highlight of the program was hearing David share his insights into the stories he told in the film.
Many thanks to those who attended the Kona Kitchen dinner; David was so impressed by the kind hospitality shown to him. The film showing went so smoothly thanks to our great crew of volunteers. Thanks to: Doug Tsujii, Paul Murakami, Kathy Yee, Carmen Tsuboi Chan, Bev Kashino, Shina Kashino, Sarah Smith, Wendi Coombs, Bruce Inaba, Susan Uyeji, David Yamashita, Griffin Fujioka and Keith Yamaguchi. Special thanks to Tim Miyamoto of Seattle Renaissance Hotel for helping with the hotel arrangements.
