Frank T. Hidaka was born on November 19, 1918 in Seattle, WA. He passed away peacefully on February 6, 2014 in Renton, WA. Frank studied engineering at the University of Washington, but shortly before he was to graduate, World War II broke out, and he met and married Teresa Takisaki. After leaving camp for Spokane, Frank was drafted into the U.S. Army and served with the 442nd RCT in Italy. After discharge, Frank returned to the Northwest and was hired by the U.S. Forest Service, then the U.S. Geological Survey. Thus began his long career as a hydrologist in the Water Resources Division. Frank was active, going razor clamming, foraging for matsutake, salmon fishing, as well as jigging for squid and smelt.
